Vintage Furniture Chalk Paint Redo

April 4, 2012

Mom and I have become a little obsessed with chalk paint lately. Like really. Nothing in this house is safe from our brushes. Nothing. WE ARE ON A ROLL!

If you don’t know what chalk paint is, it’s essentially flat paint mixed with un-sanded grout to make a chalky paint base. It gives a very vintage, shabby chicness look to things. I loovvveee it!! Anyway, our first try at it we took an old chest that was used to keep our sound system, dvds, cds, and a menagerie of broken pencils in.

Before

You can see it was in need of feeling loved.

After!

This once dark, and lonely piece will now spend the rest of it’s days a lovely blue that brings light and warmth to a room and every old soul that enters!

Too dramatic? Don’t care. I LOVE this piece. Really. One night I am planning on sneaking down to the living room and stealth-fully carrying it upstairs to my room. By myself. All the way up the stairs. Just you wait and see.

I’m leaving for Europe in a few hours and will be back and blogging on the 17th, so I plan on posting our chalk paint recipe and how we got the the distressed, weathered look then.

XO Laura Lee

Not too dramatic at all – beautiful!
