Room DIY Artwork

November 17, 2011

I love getting on sites like Pinterest that have a never ending plethora of DIY craft ideas and upcycling home-decor activities. For a few years now I have wanted to make some room artwork with old vintage window panes, but the timing of it all just hasn’t been ideal. The girls just recently moved out of my room and into the apartment which gives us each a space to work and grow- so nice considering the stress of senior year work is at a maximum. So, slowly but surely I have been redoing the room to my taste; lots of vintage and antique pieces that make me drool :) Also adding some original, hand-crafted artwork. It has been challenging, but very rewarding!

That is where Pinterest comes in- it provokes creativity that never would have been there without the inspiration of other artists and “pinners”. I browsed through several followers window pane redos and after coming up with my own ideas and combining that of others, I came up with this little beauty:

I really do love it, and it brings all the different colors in my room together. I am at a slight loss, though. I can’t decide whether to leave it leaning on my chest-of-drawers like that, or hang it up on the wall. If I left it sitting on the chest, I could maybe get some little antique picture frames to hang above it on the wall? Or if I decided to hang it, I could get some cute glass vintage bottles to put on the chest? I would love your input! Ideas, ideas…

Tell me your thoughts!

I love it just sitting there but it would look really cool to have a bunch of colored glass bottles and vases in different colors or blues or greens glass with flowers in them. : ) LOVE IT!!!

I like the glass bottle idea better than more frames. It will add different shapes And more colors. Antique frames might be too framey. It could stay propped up peeking out from behind the glass bottles or you could hang it depending on how it looks. Love how it turned out! Did you use paper or fabric? How did you adhere them to the frame?
